Are You Enjoying The Journey?

July 14, 2011 By: Kim Category: Inspiration, Motivation

Faith is taking the first step even when you don’t see the whole staircase. — Martin Luther King, Jr.MP900427670 300x199 Are You Enjoying The Journey?

It happens to each and everyone of us, we set a goal and immediately focus on the end result. We then have 2 thoughts, YES we can do it or NO this will never happen. Focusing on the end result I admit can be a little overwhelming when you start thinking about ALL that needs to be done to achieve your goal. But here is how I want you to start thinking about your goal. It works for any fitness, weight loss or life goal. Think of your goal as a cross country road trip. Picture this, you want to drive from New York to Los Angeles. Would you even think of just getting in the car and driving without a plan and God forbid rest stops? No you’d pull out the map pull up an online map and plan your journey, you’d pick your rest stops, places of interest along the way and interject some fun and celebrations along the route.

Instead of focusing on the end, break your journey into 200 feet. Pull out your map:

  • What will you need to do to get to the first 200 foot mark?
  • What actions do you need to take?
  • What resources will you need?
  • Who’s support will need?

Sit down right now and get clear about what you really want and then figure out what you need to do, to get to the 1st 200 feet.

Leave me some comments below, I would love to hear your plans.

Enjoy the journey — need any assistance, please let me know I’m hear to help.

You Are What You Think!

July 07, 2011 By: Kim Category: Inspiration, Motivation

What are your thoughts around losing weight, getting into shape, staying stackedrocks 199x300 You Are What You Think!healthy. Do you think that you can do it, have you tried in the past and it didn’t happen as quickly as you wanted it to and then you gave up? Were you successful and then went back to your old ways and put the weight back on?

Regardless of what happened to you there was a THOUGHT that you had and that THOUGHT made you be successful or told you to quit.

Now when you listened to the successful thought, did you visualize what you like when you reached that goal, could you smell taste, touch what success would feel like?  Or did you visualize failure and let those thoughts stop you dead in your tracks.

Give this  a try change the frequency and focus on the positive. See yourself as being successful, so clear you can touch it, you feel like you are dreaming and will need to pinch yourself.

Are you reading this and going what the heck is she talking about? What I’m talking about is visualization. You set a goal and really clearly define it and see  yourself as if you have reached that goal! Each day you’re taking baby towards reaching that goal and eventually your goal will be achieved.

This happens because we changed our thoughts around our goal.

Here is how I changed my thoughts — I am not a very good swimmer and my husband is always asking me to go kayaking with him, I typically say no or I’ll think about it and never do. This past weekend, he asked me and instead of  my typical response, I visualized that I could do, I saw through my fear of the water and did it. I visualized myself being successful versus being stranded and rescued by the Coast Guard.

How can you change your thoughts? I’d love to hear about that. Please leave me some comments below.

Are You Ready To Let Go Of The Past?

June 06, 2011 By: Kim Category: General Fitness, Motivation, wellness coach, Wellness Vision

To get the future you want, you need to let go of the past. Review your baggage past future 239x300 Are You Ready To Let Go Of The Past?and see if those old beliefs you have been holding onto are holding you back.  Take time to reflect and then say those are old beliefs and I let them go.

  1. Set a deadline – nothing springs you into action like a deadline.  I recommend picking 3 dates (short roughly 6 weeks, medium roughly 12 weeks and long roughly 24 weeks). This way you’ll have something to celebrate yet keep you motivated.
  2. Review past behaviors – As I said earlier, look at your past, if what you were doing wasn’t getting you to where you want to be, then you need to stop doing them. What I mean is if you want to lose weight and you are not exercising and/or watching what you eat, guess what?  You are not going to see results.

Now is the time to take your dream and put it into action.  I am hosting a Shape Up For Summer teleconference call.  I will be discussing actions you can take to flatten your belly, tone your legs, tightened your tushy and what’s the best thing to eat on a hot summer night. To attend, just register here.

In the next 30 days what actions will you take to make your dreams come true?

Feeling The Fear

May 16, 2011 By: Kim Category: Challenges, Inspiration, Motivation, Personal, Random

And doing it any way.  I read this book a few years ago and it still sticks with cliff 197x300 Feeling The Fear me. This week I felt as though I jumped off a high cliff.  I’m in the process of making some serious changes as to how I run my business and decided to take on a business coach.  I’ve known for a few years that at some point I would need to do it, but the time is now to bite the bullet.

I pulled up my big girl panties and LEAPED!

Is there fear that is holding you back. Is there something that you have been thinking about know you should do, but just haven’t taken the steps to make it happen?

Let me tell you. I’m nervous, excited and terrified all at the same time.  I’m a big fan of Lululemon clothing and on their bags they have a number of inspiring phrases.  One of the phrases that sticks with me regularly is Do one thing everyday that scares you. I’ve been living in my comfort zone for a little to long and now I’m OUT! If I want to see change, I need to be the change!

Big things are ahead for me I can just feel it.

What about? What’s  your fear that you can embrace? I would love to hear it. Hell I’d love some company on this journey!

You just picked up the latest People, Us Weekly or Star magazine and on the standing bikini 1 200x300 I Want Flat Abscover is some movie star or singer showing off their rock hard abs.  You then look at your abs and vow today is the day that I will do 1000 crunches everyday until summer to have those abs.

  • burn more calories than  you eat — 1 pound = 3500 calories, you will need to create a 500 calorie deficit everyday to lose 1 pound each week.
  • work your large muscle groups — butt, quads, lats, and chest using resistance/strength training and cardio.Working your large muscles will help you burn fat, that maybe covering those gorgeous abs of yours.
  • limit your sugary treats,  ladies we tend to store our sugary treats in our mid-section.
  • consistency! To see results you must work consistency or your eating and exercise regimen.

I hope you found these tips helpful. If you have any others, I would love to hear them, just leave me some comments below.

The calendar may say its spring, but if you live in New England it certainlyskinny jeans 300x300 30 Day Spring Shape Up! doesn’t feel like it. But like they say, if you don’t like the weather in New England just wait a minute and it will change. So that’s why I think a 30 day challenge is EXACTLY what we all need to get us ready for summer. What does this mean? Typically when you think of making a lifestyle change, you list ALL the things that you need to do and then get overwhelmed or only make a few changes because you get overwhelmed or you quit because you are striving to be perfect. The Fab Fit Squad 30 day challenge is not about being perfect, it’s about making small changes so that you can stick with them over the long haul. Just like me on Facebook and each day I will post a tip of the day, to help you keep up the challenge. The challenge starts, Friday, April 1st. Are you ready?  Leave me some comments below about what you are hoping to change in the next 30 days.

Make Yourself _____________

January 31, 2011 By: Kim Category: Motivation, Training

I am totally into this new Nike Ad campaign. It makes me think of a conversation I had with my coach when I first started doing fitness competitions.  It was the end of the season and I was little disappointment in how I placed throughout the year. I booked an appointment with my  coach to talk about the year and what I could in the off season to improve my placings for the next year.  She looked at me and said these simple words that ROCKED and CHANGED my world.  She said to me did you do all you could do?
